Centers for Independent Living (CILs) are consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability non-profits that deliver five federally mandated core services across Maryland:
Individual and systems advocacy to defend disability civil rights.
Mentorship and peer counseling from individuals with lived experience.
Practical training for budgeting, mobility, cooking, and daily living.
Connecting you to housing, assistive technology, and community resources.
Support for youth transitioning to adulthood and institutional de-escalation.
