Governor Wes Moore has officially declared a State of Emergency for the State of Maryland as a significant winter storm prepares to impact our region. Beginning Saturday evening, January 24, through Monday morning, January 26, Maryland is expected to experience heavy snowfall, potential ice accumulation, and dangerously low wind chills.
Forecast Highlights
- Snowfall: Projections indicate 7–14 inches of snow across central and western Maryland, with localized amounts possibly higher.
- Timing: The heaviest precipitation will occur Saturday night into Sunday morning. Snowfall rates may reach 1–2 inches per hour.
- Conditions: Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills near or below zero will follow the storm and persist through early next week.
- Travel: Roads will be extremely hazardous. Travel is strongly discouraged after Saturday afternoon.
