Today, May 5, 2026, marks a historic moment for empowerment and advocacy across the Old Line State. Governor Wes Moore has officially signed the proclamation declaring today Independent Living Day!
Empowerment. Choice. Control. Maryland is celebrating the vision that every citizen with a disability deserves the information, choices, and control to participate fully in every aspect of society. This day honors the Independent Living philosophy—a movement built on:
